Elsa Paynes needed a safe space to host a certification exam.

The Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) brought their ASBOG certification exam to the Thompson Conference Center (TCC) in October 2020. Elsa Paynes, their Licensing and Compliance Team Lead, was the event point of contact and was on-site while the exam was in progress. We asked Elsa how it felt to be back in person.

"We were a little anxious about how it would all work out, but it was great. It felt good to be back around people again, and everyone was respectful of the protocols."

TBPG let their participants know in advance that there would be safety protocols to follow when they were onsite. In addition to the social distancing plan TCC put in place, they also performed mandatory temperature checks. "We had good compliance from the attendees because they knew the requirements ahead of time. We received several pieces of positive feedback from our attendees for going ahead with the event and thanks for all the precautions that were taken which helped ease the background stress of the pandemic and focus on the event.
