Javier Motta-Mena was planning to hold an event at the Thompson Conference Center in the summer of 2020.

Canceling due to the pandemic was not an option for his group. Neither was a postponement since it’s so hard to give an accurate idea of a new date. So, he moved online with the assistance of the team at TCC.

Motta-Mena, Interim Manager of Engineering Professional Development Programs at The University of Texas at Austin's Texas Engineering Executive Education, had already coordinated an online event earlier in the pandemic and decided to take advantage of the support TCC offers for the August event, CBET 2020. “We decided to stay with TCC because we felt confident that they could still provide event support that would help us be successful. We had this confidence because [our coordinator] was always so reassuring, and was willing to go above and beyond to come up with ideas for how we could structure the event.”

According to Motta-Mena, he had both participants and organizers comment about how well-coordinated the event was. Plus, with the move to an online format, they weren’t restricted by space availability and they were able to have more people attend the event.
